January 21st. Dajti: We kept crowd under control

He declared that he had been signalized that the protest would be violent, and as Chief of the Tirana Municipal Police he had taken measures for avoiding any harm to the subjects.

“I was asked by high rank police officers to help calming the situation, and I tried to not allow the protesters enter the Prime Minister’s building. I was near MPs Besnik Bare, Saimir Tahiri and  Artan Gace, and we tried calming down the citizens together. I understood that the bullets were real by the way they sounded, because I used to be a National Guard officer, and also because the tree branches started to crack”, declared Dajti, one of the dozens eye witnesses that will be heard at court.

Despite some sentences that contradicted each other, such as the phone calls made during the demonstrations and if his phone was working on that moment, the witness confirmed that he had seen a National Guard officer shooting from the window, and he had later understood from the media that he was Agim Llupo.

The other witness, Erald Bisha, who was wounded on January 21st, declared that he was crossing the boulevard without being part of the demonstration. He underlined that he had not seen the person who shot him.

The defensive lawyer of Ndrea Prendi, Genc Gjokutaj, declared that in the next session they will hear the testimonies of the National Guard officers that were on duty.
