Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
The General Secretary of the Council of Europe, Thobjorn Jagland,
declared that the new President of the Republic must be elected through a
transparent and cooperative procedure.
Speaking in a press conference with the Albanian Foreign Minister, Edmond Haxhinasto, Jagland gave his support for Albania’s presidency by saying that the work had initiated very well.
Jagland’s visit in Albania comes one day after our country officially took over the Presidency of the Council of Europe.
Jagland’s agenda foresees a series of important meetings with Albania’s officials and representatives of the political parties.
For the first time after 17 years of membership, Albania will lead the Committee of Ministers from 47 member countries. According to the Foreign Ministry, this is a step that marks an improvement of Albania’s image in Europe, and its prestige for leading international organizations of these proportions.
