Izet Haxhia, a former bodyguard of former PM Sali Berisha, wanted by the Albanian justice, announced on social networks that he handed himself over to the Turkish Police.
“Since they didn’t come to get me, I handed myself over to the police”, he wrote on Facebook.
Haxhia is sentenced to 25 years in prison by Albanian courts regarding the murder of Azem Hajdari, an accusation that he denies.
Berisha’s former bodyguard has been living in Turkey for years, from where he has launched strong accusations against the former PM.
This year, the Turkish Supreme Court decided to extradite him to Albania.
