Italy extradites culprits of January 9th tragedy

The Italian authorities have extradited two Albanian citizens, Altin
Belulaj and Cukal Delija, sentenced as the main culprits of the tragedy
of 9 January 2004, which claimed the lives of 21 people.

Belulaj, the 32 year old from Vlora, was sentenced to 25 years in prison, while Cukal Delija, from Shkoder, to 15 years in prison. Both these citizens were found guilty for a series of accusations, including human traffic.

36 people, mainly from Shkoder and its surroundings paid 1500 EUR to go to Italy through a inflatable motorboat, which tragically sank, causing 21 victims and 15 survivors.
