Italian Interior Minister in Albania, anti-cannabis monitoring report

The Interior Minister of Italy, Marco Minniti, held an official visit in Tirana today.

His first meeting was with his Albanian counterpart, Fatmir Xhafaj, and President Ilir Meta.

The Guardia di Finanza announced the results of the monitoring mission in the fight against cannabis for 2017. The report was presented by Steffano Screpanti, from Guardia di Finanza, who said that their operation reduced the cannabis cultivation.

“This year we had a 40% growth of the monitored surface, compared to one year ago. We have monitored 23.77% of Albania’s total surface. We have had a very valuable cooperation with the Albanian authorities, which have offered us information exchange”, Screpanti declared.

The Interior Minister of Italy, Marco Minniti, valued the anti-cannabis valued the anti-cannabis operations, and said that they are looking to hit bigger organization and their untouchable leaders, because there are no untouchables in Italy and Europe.

“I want to congratulate my Albanian colleague, who organized a very important meeting and who shows our excellent cooperation”, the Interior Minister declared.

“We made it, despite critics and skeptics”, declared Minister Xhafaj, who said that the cooperation with Italy for monitoring should continue, despite results.
