Merits or unforgivable negligence for one entire century? This is the
big question that surrounds today the community of the historians,
regarding these two flags.
This is the flag that was used in the government building in Vlore, during 1913, while the other has been used for covering the coffin of Ismail bej Vlora, on 26 January 1919.
But these facts about the flags have been scientifically proved only recently, while the flags were staying in the state archives.
The flat with which was covered the coffin of Ismail bej Vlora was donated to the National Museum in 1932, with a regular documentation. But it was forgotten until today.
Prof. Dr. Marenglen Verli says that this is due to the fact that the historians have tried to make precise bigger problems, but not small details.
But our history lacks of many other details, related with Albania’ independence. Such as the flag of 28 November 1912, and even a single photo of the day. The one that can be found in the history books was made on the celebrations of 28 November 1913.
The Albanians also don’t have the independence document. The ones that are recognized are only copies of the original, while there debates even for the date of the death of Ismail Qemali.
