Ismail Kadare: Serbia has an obligation to recognize Kosovo

The well-known Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare, declared that by denying
Kosovo independence, Serbia is refusing to accept the freedom of another
country. In an interview for radio “Blue Sky”, quoted by Telegraf,
Kadare says that Serbia is obliged to recognize Kosovo.

Kadare writes in his book “Crime in Balkan” that the international silence for the crimes committed by Serbia against Balkan countries has made Serbia profit from it.

“This message has been repeated for 20 years. A part of the letters that are published in this book were written 20 years ago. I have criticized the international silence at a time when no one mentioned Kosovo, and I have also criticized the Albanian silence on these crimes. To avoid any misunderstanding, I must say that people have spoken and written about these crimes, but these people are still very few compared to the horrors that have happened there,” Kadare says.

“If the world would know the real truth, Serbia would not dear to strut today. They would lower their head. This would not only shed light on the truth about Kosovo, but the entire region would benefit, even Serbia”, Kadare emphasized.
