Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Socialist Councilors at the Tirana Municipality Council asked the
Prosecution to continue investigating the change of the Skenderbej
Square Project, which, according to them, were undertaken by the
Municipality illegally.
“We believe that this procedure that has started for the sake of transparency will not be another legal bluff, like the scandal with the biggest financial abuse in the history of this country, that of the highway that stained the government with corruption. We want to say to the government that the illegal action with the Skenderbej square is not only a financial damage, but also a power abuse. No one can act above the law, and change an entire project that has been approved in full transparency without issuing a legal instance”, declared the head of the Socialist Councilors in the Tirana Municipal Council, Aldrin Dalipi.
The Socialist Councilors expressed their concern for Albania’s image with the international architectural studios, winners of the project, and the EU countries that they presented.
“We also appreciate the concern that was publicly raised by the representative of an EU country, for the extraordinary damage that this project change makes, by obliging world’s renowned studios to avoid Albania in the future. This concern makes us more attentive for seeking transparency, within the possibilities given by law, in order to not allow the community’s interest to be overlooked”, Dalipi declared.
According to Dalipi, the Socialist Councilors will not allow abuses to become a common practice of the Municipality, by causing financial and image damages.
