Police, Vullnet Topalli, explained the details of the accident that took
place yesterday.
According to Topalli, the bus fell of a 60 meters high cliff, causing the death of 13 people. The Police director gave the identity and age of everyone, where it is noted that besides the 57-year-old driver, neither of the other 12 student girls was more than 22 years old.
“15 citizens are being cured at the Military Hospital. 10 girls are at the Vlore Hospital, while the girl that was staying at the Himara hospital has improved and returned to her family”, Topalli declared.
The traffic police director then explained the maximal commitment of all state structures in facing this emergency where all the state police structures have coordinated their work with the Health and Defense Ministry.
In this operation have been engaged the helicopters of the State Police, the Health Ministry, the Defense Ministry and the ambulances of the Vlore and Tirana cities, for enabling a faster transportation of the injured to the Vlore hospital.
As for the real causes of this serious accident, the Police Director explained that the prosecution experts are investigating for the causes.
“That part of the road had a roadside railing, it was illuminated and the respective signs were present. The asphalt was dry and clean. Driver Peullumb Cela had the driving license since 1999 and had renewed it until 2014. The vehicle had been checked by the authorities on 26 April 2012”, Vullnet Topalli explained.
