The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, announced the resignation of the Interior Minister, Fatmir Xhafaj, who led the most important ministry for more than a year. Rama announced that he will be replaced by a general.
“I accepted Xhafaj’s resignation and I thank him for the precious contribution. General Sander Lleshi will bring a new, positive energy at the Interior Ministry. The path is laid. We need to accelerate our work and reach significant results”, Rama writes on Twitter.
Xhafaj also wrote: “After more than one year as Interior Minister, I have presented the resignation to the Albanian Prime Minister, thanking him for the trust in this important duty”, Xhafaj underlined.
The reason of the resignation remains a mystery.
