During a hearing session with the Security Commission, summoned by the
Socialist MPs, The Interior Minister, Bujar Nishani, declared that the
authorities have hit the organized crime very hard.

Nishani declared that 46 criminal groups have been destroyed and 118 people have been arrested only during the past year.

“661 penal acts have been identified throughout the country, with 734 authors, 116 of whom have been arrested. One of the most important elements that we have had as our main focus, was the help in the illegal border crossing”, Nishani declared.

The Socialists have reacted harshly against Nishani, mainly for corruption, management incapability, lack of resources and connection of the Democratic Party MPs with high profile criminals.

“Your failures in the war against organized crime are connected with a series of factors, such as the lack of resources, the corruption that is deeply rooted in the state structures and what is worst, the lack of a political will”, MP Gjoni declared.

The Socialists asked for the fourth time for the state to find the killers of the Socialist MP, Fatmir Xhindi, and that judge Skerdilajd Konomi.

They also raised the concern of a higher number of murders with explosives and the oil smuggle in Fier, or the destruction of the Nytro Plant, for which no measures have been taken.
