Bank of Albania is expected to reduce the interest rate once again, with another effort to encourage the economy.
The Bank of Albania is expected to reduce the interest rate as a new effort to encourage the economy and fight the dropping prices. Top Channel has learned that the staff of the bank will request another drop of 0.25%, bringing it to the historic minimum of 1.5%.
Confidential sources say that the decision has been discussed between the bank managers and the members of the supervisory council, who had reserves and were not convinced if there should be another drop.
The winning variant will be that of a further facilitation of the monetary policy. Chances are that the council will approve the interest rate reduction to 1.5%.
Another important factor in convincing the council was the recommendation of the IMF. As never before, the Imf has asked the Bank of Albania to not reduce the interest rate any longer, in order to not create deflation.
This reduction would be the 15th, which is a historic record.
