The Danish ambassador in Albania, Karsten Ankjaer Jensen wished for the
country to receive the EU candidate status, but for this, they must work
fulfilling the 12 criteria.
The ambassador visited Elbasan this Wednesday, for the of the Summer’s Day celebrations.
Jensen declared that Albania’s EU candidate status is up to the Albanian politics, which must fulfill the 12 criteria asked by the European Union. Meanwhile, the city of Elbasan was visited today by the Albanian Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, and the opposition leader, Edi Rama.
The city of Elbasan, where this celebration is traditional, has started the activities in the first hours of the morning with many concerts in the city center.
Musical groups and bands are performing for the visitors, while the typical cooking of this celebration, “ballakume”, can be found everywhere.
