The Albanian government reported the European Commission to the
representatives of the European Commission for the progress reached in
the last three months for realizing the priorities from number 6 to 12.

The realization of the priorities that are related with the human rights, the treatment of police suspects and detainees in holding structures, the public administration reform, the reinforcement of the rule of law, the anti-corruption strategy, the war against organized crime and the right to property have passed through the European filter.

Vasilis Maragos, chief of the unit for Albania in the Enlargement Directory at the European Commission has heard the detailed reports of the institution leaders that should implement these priorities.

Majlinda Bregu, Minister of Integration, presented the work that has been made so far in the realization of these priorities that have been listed in the action plan of the Albanian government.

Bregu paid a special attention to the debate that is related with the removal of immunity for high rank officials.

“As Minister of Integration, as responsible for the coordination of the Action Plan process, I have the duty to say that the implementation of the action plan is not failed or unsuccessful. I am repeating the public invitation that the Democratic Party and this majority has made to the SP, so that we can submit the request for including the immunity removal in the Parliamentary schedule before the season is over. I repeat that there is no obstacle that would delay us that are in Parliament for treating the immunity issue, and this majority is ready to vote any version that the opposition sees as reasonable, even with constitutional and legal amends”, Bregu declared.

The Head of the EU delegation in Tirana, Ettore Sequi, declared that priorities 6-12 should not be left out of the attention, since they are directly related with the citizens.

“A positive recommendation is still possible for Albania. There is no much time left, but the will from all parties is essential for Albania to progress to the EU. You can make this happen. We will continue supporting you, but the decisions are taken only by Albania. Commissioner Fule encouraged all political forces to produce results before the EU progress report this autumn. We must keep moving”, Sequi declared.

The EC officials have constantly requested not only the planning of law and state policies that are related with the fulfillment of the 12 key criteria, but especially their implementation.
