The insurance companies agree for a legal initiative which would force an annual insurance payment of all houses against natural disasters.
“Every country in the world has done it years ago. We are not doing something special. It already exists and we have plenty of other models”, declared the General Director of Sigal, Avni Ponari.
The President of Eurosig, Kadri Morina, said that the obligatory home insurance is an emergency, and they thank the Prime Minister for the initiative.
But many homes in Albania were built close to rivers or to other places at high risk, and many have not been registered yet. How can these houses be insured?
Avni Ponari said that if the government has given a property title, the homes will be insured. Certainly, the price will not be the same as homes with a low danger.
Kadri Morina says that the annual cost of a house insurance could be 50 Euros a year, and if there would be massive insurance payment, that could drop to 20-30 Euros a year.
