The Gjirokastra Inspectorate of Forests and Environment has stopped the deforestation in Zagoria, after reports coming from citizens.
The company contracted by the Libohova Muncipality for cutting 500 cubic meters of lumber was reported at the Ministry of Environment.
Inspectors say that the company had subcontracted another firm to cut the forest, which is not allowed.
Inspectors found violations during the cutting procedure.
Residents say that the damaged forest parcel is the one number “39” at the Zagoria forest, 90% of which has been damaged, but it doesn’t appear on papers.
