The German Ambassador, of the country that has made most of the
donations in Albania, mounting at around 1 billion EUR in 25 years,
inspected some of the important projects financed by the German
government in Shkoder.
One of them is the construction of the 400 KW transmission line Tirana-Podgorica, with a length of 155 km and which will improve the consumers’ quality.
Albania’s further integration in the regional transmission network is realized throigh another fund of the German government and KFW bank, which mounts up to 42 million EUR, the project that will build the interconnection line with Kosovo.
Regardless of the problems met after the Albanian government canceled the tender, Ambassador Helmut Hoffman says that the project is on the right track and that the construction will start after bids will be evaluated.
“Unfortunately there have been difficulties that have brought delays, but the second tender has been realized. Our bids have been collected by the companies that will realize the project and I believe that by the end of the year we will start with the construction of this line, which will bring benefits to the country, since this line has a very decisive importance for the Albanian energetic sector”, Hoffman declared.
Ambassador Hoffman says that Germany is following the work of the new government very closely and also the realization of their program. When asked about the concessions given so far, the German ambassador says that the new government should see these agreements very carefully, but on the other hand they should be careful with the businesses that have already started the activity and that are concerned over the safety of their investment.
“We have read that the new government aims to inspect very carefully all concessions and decisions of the former government. In principle, I understand this, because we also pay a lot of attention to a regular legal process. This is for the sake of investments. Hence, every government has the right to verify the decisions taken on this direction. ON the other hand, we should have an understanding for the companies that have received the concessions, even the German ones, which have taken an acting license, have activated their action, while they are being concerned if their investments are not safe”, Hoffman declared.
Another important project funded by the German state is that of the dam safety in the Drin cascade; the flood warning system; the connection of the Qelez commune with the national road; water supply in the rural areas of this region; environmental protection of the Shkoder lake and many other projects.
