A helicopter of the Italian police discovered an inflatable boat full of
emigrants, sailing towards Santa Maria de Leuca, in the extreme

A few minutes later, the vessel left 45 people on the shore and left escaped in open sea. But the quick intervention of the Italian authorities stopped the traffickers, regardless their dangerous maneuvers.

By not being able to escape on sea, the traffickers abandoned the inflatable boat and landed on the coast of Torre Vado, 30 km near Gallopoli.

The Italian authorities used the helicopters to find and arrest one of them, a 25-year-old Albanian living in Italy.

The 45 emigrants from Afghanistan and Iraq, with 4 children and 2 women among them, are in good health conditions and are waiting identification.
