Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
Dozens of Albanians were attacked around 11:00 by a group of Serbian
extremists in the place called “Qeshmellug”, in northern Mitrovica, at
the Bosnian Neighborhood.
The attack left three wounded Albanians and the location of three others is not known yet.
Seven Serbian extremists, who had covered their faces, shot from three cars towards the Albanian workers.
The situation at the Bosnian Neighborhood, according to Kosovapress, is becoming tense after the Serbian extremists blocked the northern part of the country and after they provoked the Albanians several times. Police reported early that the situation in the area was tense, but there were no serious incidents.
This Tuesday, at least four KFOR soldiers and several Serbs were wounded after a clash at the Jarinje border checkpoint.
The clash started after KFOR blocked the alternative road that the local Serbs had illegally opened for the circulation of their people and goods.
After blocking the road, the revolted Serbs started throwing stones against the KFOR soldiers, while there are reports even for gunshots.
KFOR answered to the protesters with tear gas and rubber bullets.
USA condemns attack in north
The US Embassy in Prishtina condemned the attack and the violence that took place today against a multiethnic group of 41 employers who worked for an USAID project that aimed to improve the life condition of the communities in Northern Mitrovica.
“The victims of the attack were Kosovo Albanians, Serbians, Bosnians and others. All of them were simple citizens who were working for a modest wage”, says the US Embassy, which condemns the use of violence by some people who are using a policy that belongs to the past and who are undermining the public wellbeing.
