Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The General Prosecutor, Ina Rama, was invited at the Conference of the
Friends of Europe. Asked about the offences launched against her by the
leaders of the Albanian government, and the problems that the
institution of the Prosecution meets while reviewing high level
corruption files, Rama avoided personal comments but made a cold
analysis of the Prosecution’s work in Albania.
She underlined in particular the corruption case related with the Meta-Prifti file, and the January 21st murders, for which the prosecution is expected to finalize three accusations, as mentioned by the US Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu.
“There’s the lead for the murders, for the organizers of the illegal demonstration and the evidence manipulation. These are the three requests that Mr. Ambassador presented in his declarations, which we are certainly following. I guarantee you that the Prosecution is making all that this institution can for finalizing these investigations in time. There are some data, some procedural phases, which are not completely in our hand. Today I cannot say if we are facing obstacles with the investigation, and for the fact that the investigation has stalled in this phase: we are waiting for an answer by the FBI and the State Police, so that they can identify the organizers of the illegal manifestation. The climate is calmer now. It is the necessary climate for the prosecution to give a result. Is a work that cannot be made only by the Prosecution, but it also needs the cooperation of all institutions that have competences in investigation”, Mrs. Rama declared.
The Prosecution is waiting for an answer by the Italian authorities for the investigation that have started for the former Minister of Economy, Genc Ruli, for the chrome case.
“I know that the Italian authorities have asked data related with the status of the company that won the concession of the Bulqize Mine, and we are waiting for these results. These results have been considered as important by the prosecutors, in order to give a position regarding the responsibilities of anyone that will be found guilty”, Rama declared.
The investigations continue for two murder that took place this year, that of Judge Konomi in Vlore and the murder of the former Secret Service agent, Coba. But the prosecution did not give any details about the suspects.
