Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The situation in the town of Bulqize seems normalized this weekend.
There have been problems in the deep communes of Ostren, Trebisht and
Martanesh, which continue to be blocked.
Some villages of the Zerqan Commune are also isolated. The national roads have all been freed, except the Bulqize-Peshkopi, which can be crossed only with tire chains. The Cerenci-Ostren and Cerenci-Sterbleve are also blocked. The situation in the Trebisht and Ternove communes is still problematic, with no electric power for the last 10 days.
The Dutch and Slovenian ambassadors visited one day ago the Fushe-Bulqize commune, who have distributed food aids to a family whose house was destroyed by the snow. The Dutch Ambassador declared that such situations are very difficult, and the help of everyone is needed for safely overcoming them.
The situation is not easy in other parts of Albania too.
An avalanche in Gjerbe commune, Zhdremsh village, Skrapar, has cut off 45 villages. The Socialist MP, Fidel Ylli, walked on foot to the village of Zhdremsh, from the national road, and distributed food aids for the isolated residents.
The Lekas commune residents in Korce have been isolated for almost three weeks, with the snow reaching two meters. The head of the commune asked the prefecture for help, with the entire area without electricity for weeks and even without phone communication recently.
The residents have traveled to Leka on foot, even armed, to protect themselves from wild animals.
A group of people traveled to Gjonbaba village, for taking a teacher with health problems, while it is impossible for vehicles to drive in these conditions.
The Berat Municipality sent 106 packages of food aid to the isolated residents of Skrapar, through an army vehicle. Each package has a set of 12 kilograms of flour, rice, sugar and oil.
The Prefect Bujar Hoxhaj inspected the blocked areas and declared that the situation is getting normalized.
In Zejmen, Lezhe, 50 families have lived without electric power in the last three weeks, after a power transformer was burned. The residents say that no investments have been made in the network for the last 20 years. Since the aqueduct pumps do not work without electricity, the village doesn’t have even running water.
The head of the Zejmen Commune says that after several requests, the electricity will return after three days. The residents threaten to block the Lezhe-Shkoder highway, if the defect will not be repaired.
