Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The transformation of the Medicine Faculty to University of Medicine
gathered doctors and professors who let the honour of the opening speech
to their former colleague, the Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
The promise to turn into university the faculty where he was specialized as a cardiologist was made a few months ago. Under the leadership of Rector Jera Kruja, the Prime Minister believes that the Medicine University and its five faculties will increase not only the teaching quality, but will also progress with the scientific researches in the public sector.
Considering the health system reform as the most difficult of all, Berisha asked doctors to consolidate the citizens’ access to health centres, something that he considers as the most positive aspects of the system.
“It’s your obligation to supervise and never allow difficulties to their access. You must work against all factors, so that citizens will not have to wait in queues, will not have a series of barriers to meet doctors”, Berisha declared.
The Prime Minister declared that it is necessary to establish clear rules so that the development of the private and public sector will not damage their service to citizens.
“My request for you is to make everything for an ethical code, so that both sectors will improve without damaging each other. Let’s not forget that the public sector is the sector of those who are not rich”, Berisha declared.
