The International Monetary Fund has lowered its evaluations for the
Albanian economy, by decreasing the yearly economic growth expectations
to 2.5%.

By the beginning of the year, the Fund expected an economic growth of 3.4% for Albania, but on June they corrected it to 2.7% and now the most recent expectation predicts that the GDP growth for 2011 will be only 2.5%.

For the last two years, Albania not only has not been the country with the highest economic growth in the region, but on the contrary, the national GDP is growing less than the average of the neighboring countries.

In 2010, the economy of Eastern and Central European Countries increased with 4.5%, while in Albania it was 3.5%.

This year, according to the IMF predictions, the economic growth in Albania will be 1.8% lower than the average of the region, where for some countries like Turkey, Lithuania, Latvia and Kosovo, the growth with fluctuate from 5 to 6%.
