Illegal constructions don’t stop

Although the Municipality has received complaints by the neighbors, the Municipality employees do not answer.

“We have made complaints at the Municipal Police, but they sent us at the Municipality. They said that they cannot do anything without them making the proper paper work. We filled the paperwork and waited for one month. Then we knocked on their door and they said that it was not their competence, but of the Municipal Police. They have even sent a letter saying that they don’t see the building. The inspector and the Police man that doesn’t see the building needs to check his eyes”, a citizen says.

This citizen has received an answer by the Municipal Police only one month after making the request. The Police says in the letter that they have verified the request but they did not find any illegal construction.

But the citizen says that the construction not only is continuing, but it is damaging their apartments by blocking the chimneys and the antennas.

“This man has removed our antennas and has broken our chimney, and he says that the terrace belongs to him. Our chimneys don’t work anymore and we have smoke in our apartment”, the citizen complains.

During the action in this area, the Head of the Construction Police has demolished selectively another additional construction in another building, but they have left others continue with the construction, although there have been complaints by the citizens.

This is one of the many cases, since now all of Tirana has turned into a construction site. The law is being broken even by high rank officials who work in the justice institutions.
