With request from the Prosecutor, the Criminal Court of Tirana has
released the husband of Eleni Basho, Ilia Basho, for lack of evidence.
Sources at the court confirmed for Top Channel that Basho was released with compulsory presentation at court.
Top Channel contacted the 38-year-old and his lawyer at a bar right after the suspect left prison.
The father of two children asked the media to leave him alone and he wished for the real murders to be found as soon as possible, while he speaks on the lawyer’s phone with his relatives that just received the news.
“Leave me alone. I just want to see my kids. The Prosecution and the police should find the killers”, Basho declared.
“I don’t consider this a triumph, and neither does my client. What the court decided today shows that there is justice in our country and it works”, said his lawyer Lazer Sokoli.
Eleni Basho was killed on February 2nd in front of her house. The police suspected on her husband, after investigating his phone conversations.
Three months ago, the prosecution gave up and now is looking for other evidence.
