Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future While the Prosecution is expected to address a request within 30 days to
the High Council of Justice for lifting the immunity of judge Neritan
Tabaku, in order to start the investigation for the delayed
argumentation of the verdict against Ilir Xhakja, the Interior
Inspection Service at the Interior Ministry has verified they way how
the police has intervened during the operation that cost the life of
Chief Adem Tahiraj.
The first verifications are expected to shed light for explaining the circumstances of the tragedy, and why none of the Police effectives who were accompanying the Chief did not react when he was shot.
Sources declared that the inspectors will inspect the operation that by the officers was considered a routine inspection, if the same procedure was used for vehicles without plates; and also if another officer who had a conflict with the shooter was allowed in the operation.
A key person who can give a better view on this case is the nephew of Ilir Xhakja, who is on the run for several days. Police thinks that he knows many details about the moment of the crime.
On the other hand, the First Degree Court verdict finally had its argumentation published, which was sent to the HCJ inspectors for verification.
The judges’ argue why Ilir Xhakja was found innocent by them. The main argument is the lack of evidence, although the Prosecution claims that a fingerprint implicated the defendant for the murder of Qerim Maloku.
