The Albanian Parliament commemorated with one minute of silence the Cham
victims of the Greek genocide that took place 66 years ago, when Greek
authorities evicted them from their homes.

“We will not only honor the date that we as a Parliament decided to honor, or make something essential for valuing the memory of thousands of women and children who suffered a terrible death. As human beings, I ask all of you to keep one minute of silence in their memory”, said Party for Justice, Integration and Dignity leader, Shpëtim Idrizi.

PJIU leader asked the Albanian Parliament to approve a resolution that condemns crimes against the Cham population and for recognizing their lands.

According to Idrizi, the resolution is not a declaration of war, but the affirmation of a peaceful coexistence that must exist between neighbors, a coexistence that comes from justice.

“It is the affirmation of our human and national dignity. The resolution aims to be a pragmatic document, a behavior line that cannot be avoided by any government. This resolution would ask the government to make meetings with the Greek part, to take in consideration the friendship treaty and EU conventions. The Resolution will not ask for an historical trial against our neighbors, but their apologies, in order to ease the conscience of all people. The resolution is not a request for reviewing borders, but for restoring and bringing justice, especially in the case of real estate justice”, Idrizi declared.
