Hydropower plants open gates for surplus reserves, villages get flooded

700 hectares of agricultural land were flooded in Obot, Shkoder, while military vehicles removed several residents.

“Within 70 days, it is the third time that the Ana e Malit gets flooded. For the moment we need basic food for the cattle. It was caused by the discharges of hydropower plants”, said Arben Ceni, Director of the Administrative Unit “Ana e Malit”.

The Albanian Energy Corporate (KESH) says that controlled discharges that are being done on the Drin River hydropower plants.
