Husband beats 6-month-pregnant wife to death

A 34-year-old pregnant woman, mother of two, was found slaughtered with
solid objects in her house, Oricum. Police arrested her 35-year-old
husband, Sali Celiku.
The preliminary investigations show that the victim was hit with construction tools in her head and other body parts, which caused her fatal trauma. Her husband tried an alibi at first, but then was discovered that he had murdered her for jealousy.
The two daughters of the couple from Librazhd, 3 and 7 year old, were sent at the Vlore orphanage.
Berisha: Domestic violence increase, an alarm bell
After the news, the Albanian Prime Minister declared during the national conference against domestic violence that the increased number of killed women in our country is concerning and should serve as an alarm bell for the authorities.
“Violence against women is the biggest violation of human rights. It is a multidimensional violence, based on a stereotype inherited centuries agao. This violence has not existed in the Albanian society. There used to be a code for the behavior towards women.
The Head of the Albanian Government asked the local communities to report problematic families so that they can prevent tragedies.
