Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The husband of the woman that was found dead a few weeks ago in Tirana,
shot by unknown people, was arrested by the Tirana Police as the main
suspect for ordering her death through a paid assassin.
The court session was held behind closed doors, due to the investigative secrecy and for not making public the names of other people who are under investigation.
Lawyer Lazar Sokoli insisted for the innocence of his client, Ilia Basho, arguing that there is no evidence.
According to the lawyer, his client is interested to know who killed his wife, while the police and prosecution base their version on phone conversation records and the fact that the couple was having a tense relationship lately.
If Ilia Basho will be confirmed as the killer, the Prosecution will have to specify the motives that led the 38-year-old husband to kill his wife and mother of his children.
The 33-year-old Eleni Basho was shot while returning at her residence, Shkoze, on February 2nd, by a person who left no evidence on the site.
