The US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Asia, hoyt
Brian Yee, also known as “the bulldozer”, for his persistence in
resolving the matters he took in charge, has mentioned once again about
Balkan countries during an interview for the Greek newspaper
“Kathimerini”.
Hoyt Lee said that the presence of the USA and their interest is still high in the region.
“The Balkan borders are well defined and there is no room for discussion there”, Lee said and invited Balkan leaders to concentrate on their reforms.
As for Macedonia, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary said that the doors to EU and NATO are open, if the country fulfills their obligations for reforms.
He adds it is of an utmost importance for Athens and Skopje to agree about the name, since it would serve to the Euro-Atlantic interests.
When asked if it is true that America’s interest has been reduced for Macedonia and Albania, after President Trump took the White House, Yee answered that the US policy has not changed at all.
