Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The session that should had elected as President the former politician and analyst Artan Hoxha, was appointed at 10:00.
On the same time, the Commission of Laws was passing Hoxha’s candidacy through debates. The opposition asked to verify his figure, but Hoxha collected 40 signatures from the majority, twice more than the minimum.
In the plenary session, where the ambassadors are seen 10 minutes before the session, the absence of the US Ambassador Arvizu attracted the attention. Top Channel’s sources confirmed that Arvizu, who had tried so hard to reiterate the need of a consensual candidate, would not be present. According to the same sources, the US embassy would be represented with Jennifer Moor. At 11:00, the Commission of Laws had already brought the current candidate.
The delay with the session was justified with the photocopying of the materials and the preparation of the materials. The Voting Commission would be led by the majority MPs, Viktor Gumi and Arenca Trashani, and the opposition MP, Armando Subashi.
The Socialists, who decided to be present in the session but not for voting, sent their representative to inspect the process, while the cameras were focusing Artan Hoxha living his house under the watch of National Guard soldiers.
But his destination remained unclear, and after noon, the Ambassadors were leaving the room, after waiting for two hours. A few minutes later the media received the news that Artan Hoxha had withdrawn his candidacy, which left the opposition with fewer choices, as it can be understood by the Democratic Party parliament leader, Astrit Patozi.
Meanwhile, Vangjel Dule and Shpetim Idrizi asked the SP to offer Nano’s candiacy.
