Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future With her face half hidden, Manjola Prifti, the woman that lived together
with Fatmir Rama, also known as Mir ii Xhikes, left the court after
receiving the security measure behind closed doors.
A few days after the 37-year-old mother of two, the youngest of which is only four, was left by the court on house arrest until her extradition to Italy. The house arrest was demanded by the prosecutor, since one of her children was too young. Manjola Prifti is also known in the Albanian capital for her profession as lawyer.
The police declared that besides the request from the Italian state, there are no other materials, such as a copy of the verdict that sentenced her to 11 years to prison and the charges for which she was found guilty. However, the Court left Manjola Prifti on house arrest on drug traffic and participation and organization of criminal groups.
Prifti’s name entered the investigation file after Fatmir Rama’s phone conversations, after he was executed in 2003 at his bar. Ater his murder, his wife started a legal battle about his assets against his family, but the latter have asked the DNA analysis of her son, which resulted with a victory for the 27 year old.
