Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The widow of Lirak Bejko thanked and reacted after the decision given by
the Institution of the Former Politically Persecuted, who offered their
premises for the homage of her husband.
Edlira Bajko says that the customs of the Albanians is not to close the doors to anyone in a funeral, opposing this way the decision of the head of the Politically Persecuted Institution, Simon Marka, who said that no politician was to be allowed in the homage.
“I thank the Institution that opened the doors of their premises. Although Lirak belongs to this category, I want to underline that all Albanians are welcome, despite their political differences, and very peacefully. Our customs are to open the doors even to the enemy on a funeral”, declared Edlira Bejko.
The body of Lirak Bejko will return this Tuesday from Italy. The funeral will be held on Wednesday. The former political prisoner died this Friday in a hospital in Bari, Italy, after got 50% of his body burned.
