Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Three years after the last official meeting at the US State Department,
while meeting for the second time with Hillary Clinton, the Albanian
Prime Minister realized one of the goals which he declared before the
meeting.
“ I confess that one of my goals in this meeting is to ask Mrs. Hillary Clinton to visit Albania for the 100th anniversary of independence”, Berisha declared.
After the meeting, the Prime Minister’s press office confirmed that Hillary Clinton had answered positively to the repeated request and promised Berisha that she will be in Albania for the 100th anniversary of independence. The official notification doesn’t give much details about the conversation held between the politicians, which lasted longer than the agenda. But the press release says that “Secretary Clinton reconfirmed to Prime Minister Berisha that the US are very interested to see Albania an EU member as soon as possible.
Mrs. Clinton also guaranteed the Albanian Prime Minister that the US will keep supporting Albania in its EU integration process and in all other fields of mutual cooperation.
This is a stance that Mrs. Clinton had reiterated even before meeting Sali Berisha: “The Prime Minister of a country that has been a strong partner of the US in the NATO, as part of our mission in Afghanistan. We have a long relationship that we highly value”, Clinton declared.
The official notification says that in this meeting was also present the US Ambassador to Tirana, Alexander Arvizu. Both politicians considered as excellent the relations between the two countries and discussed the options for deepening cooperation in all areas.
