Bread producers warned a higher price for basic massive bread, now that electricity is higher.
“Bakeries have a series of products, not only bread, which needs subsidies. They produce sweets, dairy products, burek, etc. This changes the nature of this business and doesn’t allow us to apply with a differentiated price”, said Elton Sevrani, from the commercial division of the Energy Distribution Operator.
The energy price for bakeries is almost twice lower than for other businesses. But bakeries that produce other products, according to OSHEE, cannot benefit from the lower price since it damages the competition.
“If a shop sells milk, yoghurt and other products, they must pay energy normally”, Sevrani declared.
The association of bread producers warned yesterday that the bread price would be increased because of the higher energy price. OSHEE says that they will implement the decision of the Energy Regulator Entity, advising bakeries to divide other products from bread production.
