Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Majority experts say that the Albanian economy has all the capacities to
avoid recession, despite the negative numbers of the first trimester.
“Albania is in a situation when the economy is having a contraction in the first trimester. It is not unexpected news, but this doesn’t mean that 2012 will define the entire economic progress of 2012. The Albanian economy, being with a low base, doesn’t have too many spaces for having a positive economic growth for the nine remained months”, declared Sybi Hida, Democratic Party MP.
Hida says that the sector of energy and agriculture will have a positive growth during 2012, and will positively affect the economic growth, but he admits that it will be less than the initial predictions.
The Institute of Statistics reported one day ago that the GDP was contracted with 0.2%, for the second time in a trimester since 2009. The fall was mainly affected by the reduced industrial production and the deepening of the construction crisis, confirming this way the difficult situation of economy since the first trimester, besides the escalation of the Eurozone and the difficult climatic conditions.
