Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Three people were arrested a few days ago by the State Police for
trafficking 3.43 kg of a substance suspected as heroine, and were
accused in front of the Court of Serious Crimes for arm possession,
production and transportation of illegal chemical substances in cooperation.
But these charges changed after the tests on this substance concluded that it was a mixture of Paracetamol with Cafetine, rather than heroine.
The Prosecution representative asked the security measure during the session that was held behind closed doors. This case doesn’t belong to the Prosecution of Serious Crimes anymore, but to the Tirana Prosecution.
The Prosecutor submitted the tests of the substance that resulted Paracetamol at court. Vjollca Pustina, the defending lawyer of the Turkish citizen, Vebi Alioglu, who was sentenced with prison until trial, explained what happened in this process.
“The Prosecutor submitted the test results of the seized substance that was found to be Paracetamol. In these conditions, the Prosecutor asked the Court to give the security measure of custody in prison, since the police found at the house of Vebi Alioglu 2 grams of a substance that is suspected as heroine, but I believe that it will be a Paracetamol mixture too”, Pustina declared.
The Court of Serious Crime announced that the Court has assessed the arrest of Edmond Gerxhani, Vebi Alioglu and Abdullah Kili, as legal. But the Court of First Degree for Serious Crimes says that it is not their competence, and for this reason, the case will be sent to the Court of Tirana.
Heroine from Turkey?
After an operation of the Department Against Organized Crime and the Serious Crime Department at the State Police, in cooperation with the Tirana and Korca Police departments, and the Regional Border Police in Korca, was enabled the arrest of the three citizens accused for trafficking narcotic substances.
Three people were arrested, the 38 year old Edmond Gerxhani, the 41 year old Abdullah Kili and the 37 year old Turkish citizen, Vehbi Alioglu, temporarily living in our country. Police had been informed that Kili, who precedents for possession and distribution of narcotic substances, had returned at the heroine market. In these conditions, the police agents have kept him under surveillance and have discovered that he frequented the Turkish citizen and the merchant Gerxhani, who also had precedents for falsifying documents. Since Gerxhani had registered a business at the Medar Shtylla road, in Tirana, he traveled frequently to Turkey. Police suspected that on his last trip he had bought narcotic substances for entering it in Albania.
In these conditions, the operation for the arrest of the three suspected persons was conducted in Korce and Tirana.
