Help for abandoned children

Rudina Hoxha, director of this institution that takes care for 45 children, from 0 to 6 years, says that they need diapers, milk, baby bottles and clothes. She appeals all citizens to help these children.

“The diapers are most indispensable, the clothes and milk. Our institution runs on a state budget, but the state cannot cover everything, because we aim to increase the standard. We appeal the public opinion and businessmen to be more sensible towards these children, because all of them are very young and we all now that they need many things. 80% of these children have been abandoned in maternities by their mothers. They stay for one month at the “Golden Cradle” and then it comes to our institution”, Hoxha says.

Although the children are very young, some of them wait for many months before being adopted. The court procedures take a long time, from 6 to 2 years.

“Most of the delays come from the court procedures”, Hoxha declared.

16 adoptions have been made in one year, while the number of families that want to adopt children is high. The directors of this center need an acceleration of these procedures, so that the children find the families they need as soon as possible.
