The Parliamentary Commission of Economy approved a law that postpones to
January 1st 2013 the increase of healthcare contributes paid by the
self-employed.
“This is being postponed in order to create the necessary infrastructure for the implementation of these dispositions, and allow more self-employed to enter this scheme, and also to continue our objective that keeps taxes low”, declared Arjana Dyrmishi, Director of the Fiscal Policies at the Ministry of Finances.
The law that increases to 45% the healthcare contributions for at least 65.000 self-employed people has been approved by the majority two years ago, but it was supposed to enter in act this March.
“It is clear that the government’s goal is not to keep taxes low. Otherwise they wouldn’t have approved this law two years ago. This was the reason why we didn’t vote for it”, declared the Socialist MP, Erjon Brace.
“You don’t want this reform because of the cost. Reforms have a cost first, and after they bring profits. But you don’t want the cost”, declared another Socialist MP, Arben Malaj.
“The Commission approved an agreement that gives the Customs Scanning concession to an American Private company for 39 EUR that will be paid by businessmen.
The agreement that gives 12 million EUR annually to this company has a 15-year deadline, which brings the cost of this service to 180 million EUR in total.
