Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future One day after the Socialist Party asked the Prosecution to investigate
the government decision for the privatization of four hydropower plants,
claiming that it causes 100 million EUR damage to the tax-payers, the
Minister of Economy, Edmond Haxhinasto, declared that the privatization
is a very transparent process that will be completed successfully.
Haxhinasto listed some of his ministry’s achievements, but he didn’t include the privatization of Albpetrol, the fate of which remains uncertain.
As for the Trans Adriatic Pipeline, Minister Haxhinasto declared that the government will sign an agreement with the consortium after a few days. He added that the Ministry of Economy signed this Tuesday an agreement for buying natural gas from the Swiss company, Alexo, which holds 42.5% of the TAP shares.
The agreement signed by Haxhinasto and Albrecht Zimmerman, representative of the company, foresees that the Albanian market will receive 250 million cubic meters of natural gas each year. Haxhinasto says that this will increase the energetic security in our country and will reduce costs.
One day ago, the Socialist Party asked the Tirana Prosecution to investigate the privatization of four hydropower plants.
The case was filed by MP Eduard Shalsi, who declared that this privatization causes 100 million EUR damage to the Albanian citizens.
