The former Tirana Chief of Police during 2000, and at the same time
former Chief of the Construction Police, Mit’hat Havari, has won the
trial against the Interior Ministry and the State Police for a decision
that was given against him 12 years ago.

The former colonel who was known for his career at the State Police, especially for leading the Berat and Tirana Police, was released from duty as Chief of Tirana Police after he was accused of having abandoned his duty. Judge Fahrije Budo considered Havari’s trial request as valid and repealed this decision.

Havari confirmed for the media that he had filed this suit only for cleaning his image and nothing else.

“I removed this stain from my biography, stains that have been following me for years. When I was removed from the Tirana Police, I had a Prime Ministerial order to be appointed in another task. After the conflicts between the structures, I was appointed Director of the Construction Police. At this time they used the motivation “for abandoning his duty”, and assigned me a job in a lower rank, a well known method for the structures of that time. I was not aware of this. A few times ago, the personnel of this institution showed me the motivation and I addressed it to the court”, Havari declared.

During his career, Havari is remembered for leading the Berat Police during the turmoil of 1997, and for leading the Tirana Construction Police during the campaign that demolished all illegal buildings at the Rinia Park in the center of Tirana.
