A statue of Hasan Prishtina was inaugurated today in front of the National Museum in Tirana.

Present in the ceremony was Prime Minister Berisha, Parliamentary Speaker Jozefina Topalli and the President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga.

“Patriot Hasan Prishtina was a leader of the Albanian fighter for national liberation, the man who drafted the political platform and the national program. The man who united all political forces to this goal and he used to say that today, tomorrow and forever, the fatherland will be our holiest thing”, Jahjaga declared.

Hasan Prishtina was born in Vushtria, Kosovo, and he defended the rights of Albanians in the Ottoman Parliament when he served as an MP. He also served as Minister of the Government of Vlore. In 1919 he led the delegation of the Kosovo’s National Defence Committee at the Conference of Peace in Paris.

Berisha declared that Prishtina was the architect of ethnic Albania.

“This is a marked day for the Albanian capital, because we are returning the architect of ethnic Albania, the architect of independence, the man who gave his life for the unification of the Albanian lands, for Albania’s independence and for the dignity of Albanians”, Berisha declared.

Hasan Prishtina’s statue was created by artist Artan Peqini. It is 3.2 meters high and was worked in bronze.
