Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The Court of Serious Crimes asked once again to widen its competences,
proposing that violent robberies with fatal consequences or not should
not be tried by local courts, but by them.
The President of the Court of Serious Crimes, Sander Simoni, announced the idea that also suggests that some military penal acts should go under their competence.
During the analysis, Judge Simoni reminded the delayed trials because of the absence of lawyers.
“We have declared several times to review the list of lawyers, mainly those who serve to defendants at the Court of Serious Crimes. We are supporting the idea of increasing the payments for lawyers”, Simoni declared.
During 2012, the Court of Serious Crimes has accepted 656 requests for surveillances, gave 6 life sentences and tried 241 people for different crimes.
