The Kosovo early elections ended with the “war coalition” gathering more
votes. The Self-Determination Movement listed second was a surprise.
LDK was listed third.
Although none of the political groups has the majority to create a government, the first results made Kosovo Albanians and Serbs celebrate equally.
Ramush Haradinaj, candidate for Prime Minister from the winning coalition PDK-AAK-Nisma, said that the government will be created based on constitutional obligations: “Kosovo’s agenda will not be withheld by anyone. Not from Belgrade, not from the Serbian Liste. We are the generation who was ready to make any kind of sacrifice for our country, and we are determined to realize what Kosovo needs. We are going to work with Serbian and non-Serbian communities, without leaving Kosovo in a stalemate caused by obstacle votes”.
As for the ballot count and the certification of the results, Top Channel’s journalist, Idro Seferi, had a live interview with the Central Election Commission spokesperson in Kosovo, Valmir Elezi.
“The election day went very well. We received good feedback from local and international observers, and also by the media. The process was well organized by the CEC. Now that we counted normal ballots, we are continuing to count votes of people with special needs, votes sent by post and other similar. However, this is not a very high number and it will not take too much time. The official results were displayed on the CEC official website”, Elezi declared.
When asked if there will be changes with the certification of the result, Elezi said it all depends on the legal procedures provided by the Electoral Law. There is a 24-hour wait for complaints, after the result is declared, and the counting of special ballots. Then the official result can be certified.
