
The Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha filled the two seats that had remained vacant for three months at the Justice Minsitry and that of Culture and Tourism.
The head of the government assigned Eduard Halimit, a legal lawyer, as Minister of Justice, and the leader of the Democratic Party for Tirana, Aldo Bumçi, in the seat of the Minister of Culture and Tourism.
Both democrat MPs are current members of the Commission of Laws, very active in public debates. Aldo Bumçi is becoming a member of the government for the second time, after being Minister of Justice for a short period during 2005.
While Eduard Halimi is entering the government cabinet for the first time, two years after sitting also for the first time at the Albanian Parliament. One of his most important duties was the presidency of the Parliamentary Commission that had to investigate January 21st events, a commission that has not been gathered for a long time and from which Halimi must resign.
Recently, Eduard Halimi was part of the group of lawyers who assisted the Democratic Party at the Electoral College during, the legal battles for the Municipality of Tirana. The President has 7 days to decree their names, and the last meeting for this Parliamentary session will be held this Thursday.
