Hahn: I hope Albania will open negotiations within my mandate

The new EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, says that the
negotiations with Albania might open within his 5-year mandate.
He gave this answer for Top Channel during a press conference at the European Parliament, when asked when the negotiations might start if Tirana advances with the five key priorities and the judiciary reform.
“I hope that it will happen within my mandate. You cannot predict a date for these negotiations, but our interest is to continue the process and support all countries. Everything depends oin quality, not the time it requires. We want the next member countries to have the right maturity to be full members, not only in the contractual aspect or, but also in their full capacity for receiving EU funds, and this is my key objective for all negotiations”, Hahn declared.
Confidential sources at the Commission say for Top Channel that the negotiations might open by 2016 if Albanian fulfills the conditions, but there might be surprises.
