The Catania Court of Appeal reviewed the complaints made by six out of seven suspects from the Habilaj group, who are charged with international drug traffic.
The only one who didn’t demand a review is the Italian Antonino Riela, who is one of the most trusted contacts of Moisi Habilaj in Catania.
Habilaj appeared in front of judges under strict security measures. His lawyer, Biagio Maurizio Catalano, said that Habilaj denied charges and demanded to be liberated.
As for his ties with the Minister of Interior, Catalano said that he hasn’t seen his name in the reports.
“Other people have spoken about the former Minister of Interior, but not the acts. I haven’t seen him anywhere at least on the procedural acts that I have seen. I don’t know about the rest”, the lawyer said.
The Court of Catania will decide about the fate of the suspects within 48 hours. They requested the arrest of Nezar Seiti and said they have sent information to the Albanian prosecution about this person.
