The Greek diplomacy reacted with a harsh warning against Albania, after
the Himara local authorities approved an urban plan for the area where
many families of the Greek minority in Albania live.

The Spokesperson of the Greek Foreign Ministry, Aleksandros Gennimatas, said Tirana is undermining its European integration with this act, which he considers a human right violation against minorities.

“It seems that for Tirana violating human rights of minorities is more important than the European progress of the country”, he said.

This is not the first time in the past months that the Greek diplomacy insists that the situation of their minority is closely related to Albania’s EU perspective.

The MP of the New Democracy, who is responsible for the Foreign Policy, underlined that Albanian PM Edi Rama must understand that they attacks against the Greek minority is an impasse.

“This path will make him responsible for the Albanian people, because he is undermining the European future of the country”, he added.
