Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
The Greek Police has arrested an Albanian citizen who was wanted by the
international authorities by Interpol Tirana. According to the Greek
Police, the Albanian Interpol agents was looking for the 43 year old
Niko Dervishi, accused of killing two people and injuring five others.
The killings took place in 1997. Dervishi was hiding in the suburbs of Athens, masked with fake identity.
He was arrested at his residence, without resisting. Police explained that the arrested will be sent at the Athens court, which will decide about his extradition.
The Greek Police and the Albanian police have arrested some of the most wanted criminals in Albania, but the Greek justice doesn’t seem to allow extraditions, arguing that the files of the Albanian colleagues have insufficient evidence.
